The delegation arrived at the House of Esama of Benin Kingdom at about 3.00pm and members were invited to a lunch by the Esama. Thereafter, the meeting was held at his guest parlor beginning with the introduction of members of the Chamber’s delegation led by the President, Evang (Dr) Mrs. H.E. Atekha-Odemwingie, JP.



The President in her address to the Esama of Benin said that the BENCCIMA has been repositioned to promote businesses and attract sustainable new investment to the economy of Edo State in fulfilment of its obligation. She told the Esama that BENCCIMA has accordingly engaged a number of activities to attract attention and benefits to members of the business community in the State. The President said the visit was to felicitate with him ahead of his 85th birthday in September and also to solicit support for the activities of the Chamber. At this juncture, she officially inform the Esama that BENCCIMA in collaboration with Edo State Government would be organizing the 2019 edition of the Edo Trade Fair from 29th November to 12th December 2019 at the Trade Fair Ground, Benin City. She humbly request as follows from the Esama:

 Reactivation of Okada Group of Companies’ membership of the Chamber.

  1. Approval of the participation of Okada Group of Companies in the Trade Fair.

iii.         Approval for publicity of the 2019 Edo Trade Fair on Independent Television and Radio

  1. Support for the following project initiatives of the Chamber - Police Post; Health Centre; BENCCIMA Farmers Market at the Trade Fair Ground, human capital development programmes, Chamber’s research and development aimed at creating a database for functional MSMEs as well as products and raw materials location in the State.
  2. Donation of a bus on which the Esama’s name would be boldly inscribed as the donor.


The Esama in his response appreciated the delegation from the Chamber for deeming it fit to pay him a courtesy visit to facilitate with him ahead of his 85th birthday slated for 11th September 2019. He noted the requests of the delegation but observed that the Chamber has not been performing its responsibilities. He advised that the Chamber should improve its performance and revisit him.
