The Benin Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BENCCIMA) has a long-standing history of promoting business development, private-sector participation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth in Nigeria. The Chamber was incorporated on 20 October 1965 as a non-profit-making organisation limited by guarantee and without share capital, and was registered under Company Registration No. RC 4602/T.
From its establishment, BENCCIMA was conceived as an institution dedicated to providing a structured platform for businesses and other economic stakeholders to engage, collaborate, and contribute to the development of commerce, industry, mining, and agriculture. Its establishment represented an important step in strengthening organised private-sector participation in economic development.
As the Chamber movement developed within the then Bendel State, BENCCIMA joined forces with the Warri Chamber of Commerce and the Sapele Chamber of Commerce to establish an umbrella organisation known as the Bendel Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BACCIMA).
The creation of BACCIMA provided a broader platform for cooperation, coordination, and collective representation among Chambers operating across the then Bendel State. It enabled the participating Chambers to pursue matters of common economic interest while maintaining their respective institutional identities.

To promote and protect the interests of its members and Edo State business community at large through public policy advocacy, creation and facilitation of trade, investment.
The Annual General Meeting or General Assembly is the highest organ of the Chamber. It holds at the end of every financial year of the Chamber and sometimes extend to about three months constitutional grace period.
Although BENCCIMA, Warri, and Sapele Chambers operated under the BACCIMA umbrella, each Chamber remained autonomous. They maintained their separate identities, organisational structures, membership bases, and areas of operation.
BACCIMA therefore functioned through a confederal arrangement, allowing the individual Chambers to retain their independence while collaborating on issues affecting commerce, industry, mining, agriculture, and the wider business environment.
