The Extraordinary general meeting of Benin Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture

The Extraordinary general meeting of Benin Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BENCCIMA) was successfully held on Thursday 13th June 2019 at the Chamber’s Secretariat, Aerodrome Close, Benin City. It was well attended by both members and non members of the Chamber.

The 14th and first female President of BENCCIMA, Event (Dr) Mrs. H.E. Atekha-Odemwingie, JP, gave an insight on the progress the Chamber has made since she took over the leadership of the Chamber about three months ago. All participants applauded the President and the Council for the efforts at repositioning the Chamber as the voice of business in the State.


Those who are yet to register as members of the Chamber were encouraged to do so with a 50 percent reduction of the applicable admission fees for those who will register between 13tth June and 13th September 2019.

Goodwill messages from well meaning pubic and Private sector organizations were given. Among them were NEXIM bank, Linkage Assurance Plc etc.

Lectures on tax based and sector specific incentives was delivered by Sir Femi Ajijala, FICA.

A talk was given by SSA to the Governor on Investment Promotion, Hon. Kelvin Uwaibi, on the ease of doing business in Edo State.

During the meeting, the 2019 Edo Trade Fair Committee headed by the President of the of BENCCIMA was inaugurated by the Hon. Commissioner of Wealth Creation, Cooperatives and Employment, Barr. Emmanuel Uso who was ably represented by the Ministry’s Director of Wealth Creation, Mr. Festus.

Presco will be a major sponsor of the trade fair. Other who pledge sponsorship include Linkage Assurance Place, NEXIM bank, Austin Laz Co. Plc, etc.

The meeting was attended by Council and members of BENCCIMA, Captains of Industries, Ministries of Wealth Creation, Agriculture, Women Affairs, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. The Senior Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Investment Promotion, Hon. Kelvin Uwaibi also attended the meeting. Others in attendance were Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NIPC), Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), representatives from Edo State Fire Service, Edo State Police Command, and a host of others.
